This year’s edition featured a carefully designed sound system that played a key role in delivering the performance to a large and diverse audience—ensuring clarity and balance across the square.

The sound reinforcement was provided by PISO AG and planned by PLUSMUSIC AG in close collaboration with Opernhaus Zürich’s Tonmeister, Oleg Surgutschow. The system was built around KV2 Audio’s VHD series, known for its high-resolution performance in large-scale environments. The setup was based on KV2 Audio’s VHD series, renowned for its high-resolution sound reproduction in large-scale environments.

The configuration ensured even coverage and a natural listening experience, and included the following components:

• Four KV2 VHD5.0 main speakers with two VHD5.1 downfills for the front system
• Two VHD5.0 speakers on delay towers
• Six VHD4.21 subwoofers for the bass range
• Two EX12 speakers as front fills
• A combination of VHD2.0/1.0 for the left outfill
• One ES1.0 speaker for the right outfill

This configuration was designed to provide even coverage and a natural listening experience across the venue.

Oleg Surgutschow first encountered the KV2 system during an open-air concert by the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra in Prague on June 21st, 2023. That experience sparked his interest in using the system for opera. Two years later, the opportunity came with “Oper für alle” in Zürich. “The opera vocals and the overall very musical sounding were exceptionally close to the real sources—which is exactly what you want for an opera.”
